Logitech Squeezebox Classic (or how an excellent concept can be a mediocre product)
B — Mon, 07/06/2010 - 21:02
I was pretty anxious to get my hands on a Logitech Squeezebox - and particularly the Classic one. Since I'll be moving to a new place soon I'd like to move my server (which now sits next to my stereo, is connected to it by RCA jacks, and runs MPD) to a closet, but that means I'll have to find another solution to access my music library over the network. The Classic seemed like the perfect solution. The newer models have too many bells and whistles and costs a lot more. But the Classic, being sold by only a few shops now, seems on the verge of being phased out, so I decided to wait no longer, buy it, and set up the whole thing. The plan was to add a real NAS (like the Qnap TS-219p, which can run Debian and has an advertised power consumption of ~ 20W under load) to complete the setup and have a power-efficient and centralised music playback solution.

Does your heart beat like a jungle drum?
B — Tue, 10/03/2009 - 22:00
I know mine does! 'Jungle Drum', a song by the Icelandic siren Emiliana Torrini - full name Emiliana Torrini Davíðsdóttir - has been getting quite some airplay over here, and its energetic nature forces you to make up your mind about the song - either you like it or you don't. I think it's a great song, and it got me curious, so I started checking out some other stuff of hers.
Party in the Ancienne Belgique

Yes sir! The hope of British rock was so nice to perform twice in Belgium (February 12th and 13th). I went on the 12th, and it was simply awesome. Sound was great, the set was tight, and the band was clearly having a blast, just like the rest of us :-). It took a while for them to come loose (but then again, as they aptly said, we Belgians are always a 'difficult crowd to play for').

De Maxx... for your swinging pleasure!
B — Sun, 16/03/2008 - 03:59
Flemish or Dutch people will surely know the radio show De Maxx, one of the most swinging shows on Belgian youth radio Studio Brussel. Don't ask me why but it never occurred to me to check out one of their compilations (called 'Long Players') although I very much enjoy this program. I bumped into sets 1 to 9 a few days ago, at a very good price, and thought 'What the heck let's be daft'. I bought six of them (yes, six), totaling 12 discs of new (and hot) stuff.
